Molluscum is spread from individual to individual by touching the affected skin.
It may also be spread by touching an object or surface that has the virus on it. For example a towel, clothing or toys that have been touched or used by an infected person. Once someone has the virus, it can spread to different parts of the body by touching or scratching a bump and then touching another part of the body. Molluscum can also be spread through sexual contact.
Although it is possible to spread Molluscum by sharing swimming pools, baths, saunas, or other wet and warm places this has not really been proven. It is much more likely that you would contract the virus from surfaces around these environments.
