After examining pustules, wash skin thoroughly and often. When hands are clean there is no need to worry about spreading the virus. Moisturize dry uninfected skin to prevent cracking (do not moisturize lesions that are being topical treated with products like Conzerol). Broken skin is more likely to become infected. Do not shave infected skin. Clean shaving equipment in very warm water. If possible, cover treated lesions with a bandage to lock-in the virus.
Wash contaminated surfaces and textiles. The infected person should stick to their own pillowcases, towels, clothing, etc.
Your child will be fine! Adults and children can go about their daily roles (school, work, gym, etc.) without concern, by following these basic guidelines.
